UMass Video Profile Series Transcript :Joanne Weir

UMass gave me a lot of principles about teaching. And though I'm not teaching art, like I thought I would when I graduated, I still am teaching. I won a Julia Child Award for top cooking teacher internationally. I really feel like I learned that during my time at UMass. Doing art was really much more of a struggle for me. I'm a fourth-generation professional cook. My mother was. Grandfather. Great-grandmother. And cooking and food came so naturally and so easy to me. It seems wherever I travel all over the world people love food. I love being back at UMass. But what I really think is great and what I've gotten to really see is how great the food is. And the choices are unbelievable in terms of healthy food. And I think it's just one of the most exceptional programs I've seen in the United States. And I really share a lot of the same views and the same values, like organic and sustainability. Take advantage of what is offered at UMass because it's extraordinary. There's so much that UMass has to offer, and I don't think that exists at that many schools. I'm Joanne Weir. I'm a chef, restaurateur, author, and host a cooking show on television. I stand for integrity and education. And I stand for UMass.
